With the worldwide web full of CBD, the question may be, how does CBD help you sleep better. Many people that suffer from sleep disorders and anxiety go through a lot to get a good night’s rest. It is essential to know what CBD benefits and how to use it for the best results. A new study published in the Journal of Sleep Research has shown that CBD, an active ingredient in cannabis, may help improve the quality of sleep.  The study, conducted by the University of Colorado Boulder, found that using CBD before bedtime can help improve sleep quality by increasing the duration of deep sleep. Additionally, it showed that using CBD before bedtime can also decrease the intensity of deep sleep.

“CBD has shown to improve sleep onset latency and increase slow wave (deep) sleep by about 30 minutes. [and North American difference between slow wave silent sleep and rapid eye movement, delta sleep] In all subjects, especially those with insomnia,” said Dr. Giles Upshall, lead author of the study.

The effects of CBD, the user must be exposed to high levels. The typical amount of CBD needed per night is 5 milligrams, but that amount is dependent on the form of CBD used — CBD capsules, oils, tinctures, creams, concentrates, and edibles.

It is best to test out different forms of the recommended dosage and determine what works best for you.

An example of such a dosage is:

  • Take one CBD capsule before bedtime.

  • Take two CBD pills two hours before bed.
  • Take one CBD tincture 30 minutes before bed.
  • Take 1–2 CBD drops 20 minutes before bed.

While those are examples, the above are just examples of introducing CBD to get the sleep benefits.

WHY COFFEE CAN HELP, NOT CURE

According to actual sleep science, coffee is likely not able to replace cannabis. Another study also shows that the amount of coffee a person consumes may not affect whether they fall asleep.

Its main benefits have to do with providing the user with a natural and enjoyable amount of sleep. It could be beneficial in those who naturally have difficulty falling asleep or frequent the late-night snacking contest.

Additionally, CBD is often blended with other natural and less psychoactive drugs to make it easier to fall asleep.

What are the symptoms of poor sleep?

CBD has long been known for medicinal purposes and recently has gained the attention of those looking for better sleep. The most commonly used anti-anxiety medication, Valium, works on antagonizing the effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Valium works by blocking the breakdown of neurotransmitters by blocking the receptors in the brain and the process of breaking them down. The person can still experience anxiety by stopping the breakdown process but tends to be much less severe.

On the other hand, CBD activates the CB2 receptors and reverses the effects of THC by blocking those receptors.

There is some evidence that CBD may help facilitate sleep. The mechanism behind this is not fully understood, but recent research shows that CBD may increase serotonin production and decrease cortisol production, which may increase serotonin/dopamine release at night.

CBD may help those with anxiety and insomnia get a good night’s rest. Not all those affected by anxiety sleep particularly well, and research show significant correlations between stress and poor sleep.

Many people struggle with getting a good night’s rest, and several studies have shown compound effects compared to placebo. The evidence might indicate that CBD is making a difference. Anecdotally a lot of people we know have seen great results from using CBD for sleep.

How Does CBD Increase Sleep?

If you have anxieties or insomnia, you should know there are ways you can utilize CBD to improve the quality of your sleep. The results of various studies appear promising, with high CBD doses helping to decrease insomnia. (Estrogen and progesterone are both involved in the process, just as they are in helping to produce melatonin.

How Does CBD Help You Sleep Better?

The body has a system called the endocannabinoid system. This system is responsible for promoting homeostasis and balance within the body. It’s made up of CB1 and CB2 receptors.

CB1 receptors are detected in the brain, and CB2 receptors are located in the body. CBD is believed to bind to these receptors, going toward the CB2 receptors, which work the other way around.

ACCI VERSUS CBD CBD is a powerful compound, but many types of CBD are available, specifically three oils that are gaining attention.

They are 1) CBD oil, 2) CBD creams, and 3) CBD tinctures.

CBD creams are very concentrated and can be very drying to more naive users. The body cannot metabolize CBD very well, so using it regularly can decrease the absorption of some forms of CBD by 50%.

The Inverse GABA ComplementAnother type of CBD acts as GABA’s complement, calming the nervous system. For the body, CBD is thought to help regulate anxiety.

LEVEL of GABA helps the body maintain homeostasis, decrease stress, and increase sleep quality. GABA enables the body to synthesize melatonin (the hormone that sets our sleep/wake cycle into motion), most effective when taken with CBD.

THC & CBD THC is the psychoactive compound within cannabis, describing the active ingredient that creates a subjective “high.”

It is thought that this effect helps with sleep because it works to normalize your body’s internal clock. This can make you feel less anxious during the night, which certainly improves sleep.

On the downside, consuming too much can cause dry mouth, so be cautious! To mitigate this, spicing with other herbs or spices such as ginger and mint is a great way to increase the amount of THCA your body can metabolize naturally.

Another research to look at is the impact of CBD on memory in people with pre-lingual verbal impairment. Those poor souls have trouble processing information and can sometimes demonstrate signs of anxiety when under the influence of THC.

Why is it important to use CBD for better sleep?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the main compounds found in cannabis. It doesn’t get you high because it doesn’t have any THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

There are many benefits to taking CBD with you to sleep. It is worth mentioning that it isn’t the “magic pill” that will make you Mox after a restless night of tossing and turning.

Both anecdotal and scientific articles outline the right amount to take, likely to produce more benefits in much higher dosages.

Here are the top benefits to CBD that are backed up by scientific literature:

 CHRONIC PAIN DISORDER

Some people experience a sudden and often intense pain that happens over and over. Some doctors refer to this pain as chronic pain, and it varies from person to person.

Some of the factors that seem to trigger this chronic pain are stress, acute illness, poorly explained pain syndromes (for example, neck stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis), pregnancy, and the use of certain prescription pain medications.

If you get this pain disorder or its unsuccessful treatment, you may also be dealing with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea means that breathing repeatedly and deeply like you are underwater causes your diaphragm and other breathing muscles to collapse, which causes a targeted stoppage of breathing.

A CBD extract helped alleviate a lot of pain in a study done on animal models, where it was used as a chronic pain medication. It decreased the event-related pain (that is, the part of the experiment where the original pain was measured), improved sleep quality, and reduced the transportation times (how long it took to get oxygen to the animal after their treatments).  This study was repeated on a larger scale without affecting the animal’s symptoms.CBD is believed to improve pain in a short-term fast by reducing the influx of sodium (which tends to exacerbate inflammation) and raising blood pressure.

What are some side effects of using CBD for better sleep?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical compound derived from cannabis that has many medicinal properties. CBD doesn’t produce a high, which is why it’s been growing in popularity as a sleep aid.

Like any medicine or supplement, there are side effects to using CBD. Here are five surprising benefits of CBD that may help you sleep better.

IT CAN LEAD TO BETTER SLEEP

Research shows that using CBD or CBD-enriched products to help manage insomnia, relieve anxiety and promote sleep can improve quality. When wearing a mask, CBD may block out pain receptors allowing you to sleep with less worry.

CBD MAY AID STRESS RELAXATION

Many people meditate thanks to CBD; there are also studies on its effects on relaxation.

3CBD IS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY CVD offers protection from diseases and diseases being studied such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, high blood pressure, heart disease, and autoimmune disease.

THC HELPS SLEEP BETTER

Research shows that short amounts of cannabis can help regulate the sleep/wake cycle. The quick action of the cannabis compound is linked to a more agitated sleep state.

Headaches, disturbances in sleep, anxiousness, tremors, increased heart rate, and increased body temperature are associated with cannabis use.

THC AND CBD SHOULD NOT BE TONED OUT IN THE SLEEP DEPT.

We have become accustomed to THC in our smoke blends and edibles to promote sleep.

Although it has excellent sleep benefits, direct use of CBD in the evening is not advised and should be dithered.

It is best to use CBD final hours before bed.
